In Rememberance of Mandi Alexander

Mandi Alexander

On September 4, 2002 Mandi Alexander was murdered at the Dolly Madison Bakery in Great Bend, Kansas where she has only worked for 3 days.  Mandi was a clerk at the bakery.  Also murdered that day was Mary Drake a 79 year old woman who was a customer of the bakery.

Mandi was 24 years old.  She was the mother of 2 beautiful little girls.  Mary was also a mother & grandmother.

Mandi was born on May 15, 1978 in Great Bend, Kansas.  She is the daughter of Guy & Karen Sunderland.

Mandi loved horses.  She'd come here to the stable to see the horses & ride occasionally.  She loved life & loved her daughters so much.  Mandi had a gentle kind spirit.  She had a joy about her that was uncomparable.  She was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister & friend.  She always had a smile on her face & always had a kind word to speak.

She had gone to work at the bakery that day.  Sometime between 5:30pm & 6:00pm someone came into the bakery & murdered Mandi & Mary.  Mary had been in the store shopping.  This happened in broad daylight on a very busy intersection in one of the busiest parts of town.

A man was seen at the door of the bakery locking the door as he was leaving.  The man is described as being 6' TALL, 188 POUNDS, LIGHT BROWN TO BLOND HAIR, LAST SEEN WEARING DENIM CUT-OFF SHORTS, BLACK TO DARK GREY T-SHIRT, WHITE SOCKS, UNKNOWN FOOTWEAR.  Nothing more is known about the killer.  Below is a composite drawing of the suspect.

This crime has not yet been solved.  Very little details are known.  We are hoping that someone somewhere has that one piece of information that will help catch whoever did this.

If anyone has any information please either email me at paintedacre@yahoo.com or call the Kansas Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-KS-Crime.

Mandi Alexander

"Mandi"

Eyes that smiled with perfect joy,
a face that glows like light.
A smile that was pure as gold.
Her personality, a delight.

A softened heart that was so sincere,
her voice was like the breeze.
Her caring ways were genuine.
Her dreams sailed upon the seas.

She was a mother who gave that perfect love,
a daughter that was loved so much,
a sister that shared specail things,
& a friend with a gifted touch.

But above all these things & most of all
Mandi is a child of Christ.
She's alive with Him in our time of grief.
She's gone from here into life.

She lives with Jesus at this very time.
She sits amidst His throne.
He holds her in His mighty arms.
Heaven she now calls home.

She accepted Christ to be her Lord,
she knew the power He gives.
She loved Jesus so very much
& now with Him she lives.

She is now within that perfect peace
that cannot come from this earth.
She lives amongst the angels now
where she was destined since her birth.

So to everyone who suffers grief
know that she is home.
She's with the Son of Almighty God.
No more will she have to roam.

We love & miss you Mandi but we shall meet again!
